Home Healthcare Aide Physically Abusing 91-Year Old Woman Caught On Video Surveillance Tape!

CNN recently aired a very disturbing report about a 91-year old elderly woman who was being physically abused by a home healthcare aide who has been working with the victim for the past 11 years!

I bring this to your attention because the abuse over a 30-day period was caught on a web camera that the victim's family set-up to watch over their mom.

The surveillance video was turned over to police in New Jersey and the healthcare aide has been arrested on numerous charges. Here's a link to CNN's story and video: www.tinyurl.com/ElderlyAbuseOnCamera

Another great story on the power of surveillance video to help protect lives and property and get the real evidence necessary to bring and sustain criminal charges against suspects.

Are You Giving Criminals Direct Access To Your Home Via Your Garage Door Opener?

Review of home burglaries reveals that one of the easiest entry points for suspects to covertly gain entrance into your residence is often via the exterior garage door to an interior door within you home.

Many victims of residential burglaries don't realize that even though they may have a monitored alarm system installed in their home, if they leave a working garage door opener in their vehicle, parked in an outside driveway or on the street, criminals can simply break into the vehicle and with the garage door opener, simply gain access to your home in seconds.

Loudoun County, VA has recently seen a spike in residential burglaries that may have been committed by suspects gaining entry to homes via garage door openers.  WJLA Television recently aired a news segment on the growing issue of burglaries via garage doors.  To watch the quick and informative segment visit:

Brand New Study Reveals FLYING In Developing Countries Is 13 Times More Dangerous Than In First World Nations...

As many of my Personal Security Bulletin Blog readers know, I am not really a big fan of flying these days even though I spent several years as a member of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department's Helicopter Branch (now known as the Air Support Unit) back in the 1990's.

Professor Arnold Barnett, with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management in the United States and a researcher on aviation safety issues recently conducted a study regarding airline safety in developing countries by analyzing available data from 2000-2007.

For more details on the study BEFORE booking your next airline reservation, be sure to visit: www.tinyurl.com/FlightSafetyReport

Attention ALL Parents, Grandparents & Childcare Providers--Today's Washington Post features a thought-provoking article in their Metro Section regarding a newly released study from the National Center For Missing & Exploited Children that reveals children need to become much more self-reliant when it comes to foiling abductors.

Teen and preteen girls are the most likely targets of abductors. Make time to discuss the important issue of proper child safety and security procedures with your kids and grandchildren BEFORE Disaster Strikes. Here's a direct link to the Washington Post article: www.tinyurl.com/PreventingAbductions

The Recent Discovery Channel Building Lone Gunman Shooting Should Have People Evaluating Exactly What They'd Really Do To Survive A Shooting Spree Incident...

With the recent Discovery Channel building lone gunman shooting in downtown Silver Spring, MD (just outside the nation's capital of Washington, DC), many folks have expressed concern about what personal security and safety precautions they can take to increase their chances of surviving a shooting rampage that can happen any time, anywhere.

Fortunately there are many options and precautions you can take to increase your safety and security BEFORE the unthinkable happens!  Arthur Cohen, author of the brand new book, "Surviving A Massacre, Rampage, Or Spree Killing" has studied many shooting rampage and massacre incidents and during his exhaustive research, he has determined exactly what you can do in the first few minutes of a rampage to stay alive.

Cohen focuses on what the average person can do to stay alive in the first deadly minutes of an attack because research has shown that most incidents end in a matter of minutes (usually well before police and paramedics even arrive on the scene) putting the real burden of survival squarely on the shoulders of those caught in the rampage.
